Smash Studios, the hub for local bands and touring artists alike since 1989, is the new east coast headquarters for MAPS. Post Malone, Harry Styles, Lenny Kravitz, Snoop Dog, and Justin Timberlake have all hunkered down here to prep for MSG concerts, The Tonight Show, and SNL appearances. Now it’s your turn.

Not only do you have access to all Smash studios, but we’ve also built one just for you. The MAPS Producers’ Room is 100% exclusive to our community, and is well-equipped to inspire and capture the sounds of your next great record.

MAPS PRODUCERS’ ROOM

Custom-built by Filson, the Producer’s Room is the perfect place to write, record, experiment, edit, & chill. Come to access your creative flow solo, or host your artists. Features include two vocals booths; outboard gear from SSL, Rupert Neve, & Chandler Limited; MIDI keyboards & MIDI guitar; Native Instruments Maschine; Audient & Universal Audio interfaces; pedals from UAD & Chase Bliss; loads of popular software and plug-ins; and a shit ton of guitars. Tied in to all the live rooms. 24/7 autonomous access, lockers, free refreshments. BOOM.

MAIN STUDIO A

Main Studio A is the perfect place to track drums or a band through an incredible collection of mics & pre’s…or impress your clients with your mix pumping through enormous Tannoy monitors. Control Room features gear from: Apogee; SSL; API; Neve; Pultec; Avalon; Neumann; lots more. Live room is approximately 300 sq ft, w/ floated floor, high ceilings, & comes with a great mic & amp collection.

REHEARSAL STUDIOS

MAPS now offers rehearsals! Ten different spaces that come in three flavors: Performance Stages; Elite Studios; and Standard Rooms. All come with backline. The Performance Stages are the perfect place to work up your live show, make a video, or invite some industry folk for a showcase. Performance Stage 1 also features a Steinway O grand piano and controlled lighting.

Shania Twain, Michael Che, Tracy Morgan, Billie Jean King, and Neil deGrasse Tyson have all been guests on shows here. The growing demand for podcasts is an opportunity for our producers to expand your client roster beyond music & reach listeners in a different way.

MAPS is an acronym for “Music and Arts Production Studios”. We’ve been quite biased toward the music part thus far. But no artist can escape the need for great photos to pair with their music and support their image. We’re excited to bring photographers into our community, and also give you the opportunity to expand your offerings to artists.

Fully-equipped and ready-to-use professional daylight & production set photo studios in Brooklyn & Manhattan. Space rental includes lighting gear with available add-ons. Starting at 10 credits/hour, usually w/ a a 2 or 3 hour minimum. Just bring your camera!

Need to get out of the house for a change of scenery? Want to be around the energy of other ambitious people? Need a quiet workspace (or clean bathroom) while on tour? As a MAPS producer, you can now book more than 500+ shared office spaces in 70+ cities on demand.

Once you’re set up through our MAPS account with global co-working juggernaut Croissant, you can book an open seat via mobile app and walk right in. Most places allows you to bring guests.

PRICING: 2 credits/hour per person for any location. Conference rooms are extra.

WITH CREDITS

On January 1, 2025, MAPS will officially switch over to the new credit system. The credit system sets you free…enabling the ability to book any studio according to your needs (initial onboarding required before booking a new location). Credits are also used for equipment rentals, office space, photo studios, and more that’s coming in 2025.

There are only two scenarios where there’s a charge to your credit card:

  1. Monthly membership charge on the first day of every month;

  2. A monthly settle-up payment—only if you used more credits than you had.

No longer do you have to whip out the credit card to put a deposit down on each booking, nor send a second payment to settle-up after the session. Credits for the full session are deducted at the time of booking, and any overage is automatically reconciled once a month.

An updated refund policy will be published shortly. Please note, credits cannot be exchanged for cash.

NEW MEMBERSHIP PLANS

MAPS functions differently than other studios. We’re invested in our producers’ careers with a wider, long-term focus. As such, not everyone can join MAPS. We seek hard-working, career-focused creators who are a good fit with our community, can be trusted with unprecedented autonomy and access to multiple studios, and recognize the value of lowered overhead and community support. In other words…”members”.

IF YOU’RE A FENDER AVE PRODUCER WHO SIGNED UP PRIOR TO 2025:

Starting January 1, 2025, the existing booking system will go offline. You will need to choose a new plan, which changes your recurring monthly payment, but the effective price you pay for Fender Studio A & Studio B will not change. More details on that in the “Legacy Producers @ Fender” section below.

THREE PLAN CHOICES

All tiers feature the same access and benefits. The main difference is your money goes farther in higher tiers, where the cost of credits is discounted, and more credits can be rolled over to the next month.

MONTH-TO-MONTH AGREEMENTS

All new plans are month-to-month. Current annual agreements will automatically convert to month-to-month.

You may cancel anytime. Credits and legacy pricing are forfeited if membership is canceled.

ROLLOVER

Have leftover credits at the end of the month? Use ‘em next month! Rollover your surplus—up to the amount of your monthly allotment.

  • Example 1: Your plan gives you 125 discount credits each month. At the end of the month, perhaps your remaining balance is 75. Those roll over to the next month, and with your next allotment, your balance becomes 200 credits.

  • Example 2: Your plan gives you 250 discount credits each month. At the end of the month, perhaps your remaining balance is 400. 250 credits roll over to the next month, and with your next allotment, your balance becomes 500 credits

LEGACY PRODUCERS @ FENDER AVE

Fender Ave producers who joined MAPS prior to Jan 1, 2025 will not experience a price increase. After choosing a new plan tier and booking with credits, legacy producers will receive a monthly credit refund to lower the actual hourly cost to match the price you were paying before. This policy only applies to Fender Studio A and Fender Studio B bookings, and will continue as long as your membership isn’t canceled.

Existing MAPS producers have until March 1, 2025 to lock legacy pricing on Fender Ave bookings by selecting a new plan.

For any new producers who first sign up after Jan 1, 2025, new studio pricing is as follows:
Fender Studio A = 8 credits/hour
Fender Studio B = 4 credits/hour

This all goes into effect January 1, 2025.
